Day Trip to Xitou - Monster Village

Had always wanted to pay a visit to Xitou, especially for the theme village, Monster Village, which had been one of my budget list since they open. So, since I had some leisure time to travel around before I get busy with my uni life, I had decide to pay a short visit there.

Taiwan is a very convenient place for solo traveler, free and easy tour or backpacker, as their government had put lots of afford on their tourism. There have lots of packages is available online (website : http://www.taiwantrip.com.tw/）. you may choose according your preference as they had the historical package, nature package etc.

Now, here I am, Monster Village. Feeling like from Taiwan suddenly being brought into a Japanese anime. Don't believe? Let's see thru the photos below.

Here is a typical "Torii" (鳥居) which is able to be found in Taiwan without visiting Japan.

Kaonashi is able to be found here. Who don't know about the famous Kaonashi from Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (千里千寻).

A typical Japanese shrine is found. Whereas it is not a traditional, but it is able to let the visitor to tie their wishes on it.

Adorable monster post boxes are able to be seen everywhere which make you had a crash on it.

Found anything interesting sign in the photo???? Yeah~~ ETs... which indicating the toilet sign.

This somehow had catch my eyes on it which means Food. I mostly will saw this in some of the anime.

Monster Village Mascot, 2 monster with their master. I quite impress by the master as he just standing still at there without moving or change the staring position.

So now do you believe me that this village really make you feel like you are in the anime?

Besides of their decoration, the shops' name, foods and souvenir all are very unique and ingenuity. But I only had some of it, as I only able to try those. (When travel solo, I always had the problem on trying all the foods, I only have 1 stomach to fill in.)

How should I translate this? Darkness cat which bite human egg tart??? （闇黑咬人猫蛋挞） You sure curious how does it look like.

It is sooo yummy and creamy. The filling is half liquid and besides egg, I'm guessing there is other ingredient inside as the taste it not only egg (maybe cheese???) Whereas it cost NT40 but it is worth to try it once.

It call the 枯麻烧.

Here you go. This is how it looks like. 3 Monster on the way to be munch in your mouth.

It is kind of sponge cake which had custard in it. Nothing special in it, but just its cute design which make me wanted to try it. The amazing things is the machine which cook these sponge cake. They will automatically rotate and push the cooked sponge cake to the first row.

Last but not least, 黑心冰淇凌 （Black heart ice-cream).

So basically it is a combination of charcoal ice-cream and matcha flavor. Just the name is very eyes catching. There is another flavor which is charcoal with melon.

There are others interesting food name. But yet to try all of it. Will definitely go there another time to try out others stuff and play the break the code game.
